About us

Shippingklubben was founded in 1957, as a members club for the elite of the Norwegian shipping industry. Here, they could enjoy first-rate dinners and the finest cognacs. At that time, Haakon VII's gate was the street with the world's highest density of shipping related businesses. The top floor of "Thiis-gården" was designed especially for the club when the building was constructed in 1959, and the premises are mostly authentic from that era. In the 1970's, women were invited to join, and over time other kinds of businesses, in addition to the traditional shipping industry, became represented in the club. An important goal for us is to preserve the history and retain the reputation that Shippingklubben has earned over more than 50 years, while still being a club of our time, in constant development. Today we have approximately 500 members.

  • Club lunch is served Monday through Friday, 11:30 am – 1:30 pm.
